I have taken niacin and also niacinamide in large doses for about 40 years to control osteoarthritis. It has helped me, I am 92 years old and still walking, although with a walker. I go by instructions of Abram Hoffer, who has written many books about niacin and other topics.

Niacin also helped me to have a very good lipid profile and remain mentally alert and I am never depressed. I take no medicines, except for my thyroid. I get a physical check-up every month and it is always perfect, but during the last few months I have low platelets. I have had 4 Rituxan treatments and so far my platelets are almost normal, the last count was 121 - will be checked in a few weeks.

I use a glucosamine gel by Joint Flex for my hands and my knees, which helps enormously. It also has menthol and horse chestnut in it. You can get it from Amazon, and larger Boots branches.
