I was trying to figure out if anyone else felt the same fatigue I do with itp. I've had it my whole life. I'm always extremely tired....my arms and legs feel heavy it's a struggle to do everyday... normal activities. I also suffer from joint pain and wanted to know if anyone is experiencing this.

So tired all the time always in pain
I think many of us feel the same way!
Hi yes I felt the same i was falling asleep in the afternoon and aching and bruising badly. I am now taking a cocktail of vitamins and feel much better I don't know if the help but my consultant said keep on taking them I'm on a multi vitamin, omega 3 fish oil, papaya enzine but a few weeks ago I added folic acid and aloe Vera tablets since then my count went from 52 to 106. I have much more energy now, the bruising is better and hardly any aching
Similar symptoms, have your doctor check your iron too. if too low.. this also adds to your fatigue. if you need to take iron, try the lowest mg with orange juice but I just recently found one chalked soft iron (less constipation). Try b-12 to boost your energy. I hate taking pills so I found this patch, 100% natural. it's called patch md b12,energy plus topical patch. get the one that says b12 as methylcobalamin, safer b12 versus the one with cyanide. natural b12 is meat products. hope this helps.
It took a long time for the fatigue to go. Years in fact. I take mulitvitamins, Vitamin C and fish oil every day. I have taken lots of different supplements but these are the ones I stick to every day. If I am tired now it is because i am doing a lot. I remember the dragging tiredness - it does get better. Nicky
Yes. But I don't think it is the ITP. I think it is the resulting reaction to treatments. After steroids and Rituxan, I now feel fragile. My ligaments and joints feel week and sore most of the time. I am a 260 pound diabetic male who could exercise with the best of them prior to my last treatments. Now I struggle to maintain my muscle and really feel like I lost my spunk. I am hoping it will return in time.
I'm interested to see that people are taking fish oil. My haematologist told me to steer clear of it because it tends to thin the blood. Has anyone else been told that?
I also have been plagued with fatigue. It's been severe enough to have gotten me a diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I was tired before I had my Rituxan treatments three years ago, but after the infusions I was always exhausted, and still am. I am grateful for my now-almost-normal platelet counts, but am living a fractional life. My CBC and iron levels are normal too, so aenemia isn't the problem. My doctor says that the most time anyone gets on Rituxan is five years. I'm afraid that when I next need infusions, I'll be left too tired to function at all.
Chronic fatigue is a nightmare. I'm fortunate... when my count hits the 60s I find it's no where near as severe. However... as others have said... if I do too much... I'm goosed.
ITP symptoms and treatment seem to be so different for everyone. My count was 2 when I was admitted to hospital. I've now been on Eltrombopag for 2 years and my count is usually in the 80 to 100 zone.
Many people report feeling fatigue especially when their count drops. My specialist advised that there is no medical reason for ITP to cause fatigue and there must other reasons for it. Even when my count was 2 I had all my energy and felt 100 % normal. Now 2 two years on the only thing that reminds me of my condition is I have to take a tablet at night. Perhaps I am just lucky not having fatique or perhaps there are many more like me who just dont post here as they feel ok.
The fact is having ITP does not automatically mean you will have any other bad symptoms. I leave my platelet count to my doctor, for myself I try to maintain a healthy body weight, have a balanced diet and keep active.
