Salty tasting saliva

I have ITP and have been on mycophenolate for two and a half years and also take penicillin twice a day, a result of my splenectomy, but recently my saliva has started tasting very salty I have had this for over two months and is is very unpleasant. My diet has not changed, nor my medication. Has anyone else experienced this?

NickyD,

I haven't had what I'd describe as a salty taste, but I do get a strange chemical "feel" in my mouth. My doctors have all said the same thing when I have talked to them about it: "Huh." ITP seems constantly to mess with my body in new ways and I don't even have a severe case. I wish I had an answer rather than just sympathy for your salty saliva; I'll be interested to read what others have to offer.

Hi SoporRose it seems that salty saliva is not very common. i dont notice it when I am busy doing other things, so perhaps the answer is to keep busy..
