ITP with low red counts.

I have seen many posts mentioning fatigue and exhaustion, which I have. I am curious if many of you with ITP also have low red counts. I know your red will drop with ITP when bleeding and extreme bruising. My platelets are at 9k, red is at 2.3, hematocrit at 26% but I don't have too much bruising or any bleeding (which I have had severely in the past). I mentioned before steroid treatment started 3/20, have been on NPlate and Rituxan since and every week all my levels drop. I see some people have had delayed response and I hope that is my case. So are your red counts low?

I have only had prednisolone and IVG treatment for ITP.

When I have these my haemoglobin actually goes up which is what they expect.

I have not had treatment now since December and my haemoglobin is still high, 16, but is coming down slowly.

Platelet Count is steady at 157, since Xmas, so hopefully am in remission again.

I think one of the side effects of rituximab is low red and white cell counts, so your reaction is probably normal.

Hi, I have noticed that even though my red cells seemed ok, my iron levels went 4 times lower. I had rituximab + dexametazone treatment followed by a bit of azathioprine and 6-MP whilst we thought rituximab didn't work (but it did later). So I am on ferroglobin at the moment, trying to bring iron up
