My husband had his second liver transplant on 9/23/24. Everything was fantastic the day after and he was moved, walking on his own, out of ICU. He started feeling bad the next day and was moved back to ICU. Now, four weeks later he had three more surgeries, a pacemaker placed and was on a ventilator for 12 days. He now has pneumonia and his liver numbers are not where they should be. There were several days that I did not know if he was going to survive. I still don't know how all this is going to end.In the middle of all this I had a car accident..totaled my brand new car. My husband does not remember much of what has happened and is having trouble putting everything together. It is so hard for me not to be able to talk to him. We are very close and he is my go to person. I hate this constant uncertainty of the future. I hate that I can't discuss things with him. He is also very distant and that is hard on me. I know he is just trying to survive and cannot worry about me right now but I can't help feeling alone. This entire year has been hard on us because he was not feeling great before his transplant and I feel like I was more and more his nurse and not his wife. I do all this gladly but some days it is a lot. Some days I don't know how to much forward.
