Does anyone know how long it takes before there starts to be a change where the brain begins to signal to the lungs to breathe on their own? My friend is still on the ventilator and Covid and pneumonia are gone but heās not back with us yet. Iām assuming this is still from all the sedation drugs?

I think the time period for this varies form person to person I think I was still unsure what was real or not lasted at least 3 weeks after coming off the ventilator,
