This is not unusual especially if your dad’s kidneys have been effected by his illness. It takes time for the midazolam to clear. He would have been receiving an opiate as well so that builds up over time and needs to clear as well.

I would be asking the doctor how this was assessed, for example MRI, EEG etc. If it’s based on the fact that your dad isn’t waking up then it’s a circular argument. Are your dads kidneys working well?

Thank you for responding! He was fine a little over a month ago! He is a type 1 diabetic. Went to check on him and he had caught what I call a bad flu. Called 911. The very next morning they had him on that deadly drug Midazolam and Hooked up to a respirator!😳 We finally told them to take him off it but now they can't totally because he becomes unstable they say! They said he had to be unsadated to get a accurate reading on the EEG but did it anyway! He has no gag response and puplies are fixed! No response fsince he was admitted! This is horrible!! Wish he would have never gone to the hospital! His kidneys were fine now they are not good due to that drug!!!

Having fixed pupils and no gag reflex are really bad signs. Your dad may have had a stroke and may not wake up. Covid can cause clotting problems even where patients have been given heparin. Try to look after yourself and you and your dad will be in my thoughts.
