My partner was admitted to ICU on 28th September with severe Covid. He was then intubated and put on full ventilator on 3rd october. I am struggling with the whole situation as he has other complications and the Hospital have advised they are very worried he wont survive but taking things day by day. He has sepsis, collapsed lung and currently on dialysis too so he has a lot against him.

ICU is a very worrying time but the staff will be looking after him and doing the best that they can.

CC-SN is a really supportive group for people who have been in ICU and their relatives. There is also a Facebook page which is a very supportive place too xx

Its an awful time when a loved one is in icu and a constant worry its like living on a knife edge. My husband was taken to icu on 25th August spent 4 weeks intubated and sedated and a further 3 weeks in there once awake. Drs were extremely concerned as they were struggling to get enough oxygen into him to keep his Sat's up. He also spent some of this time on dialysis. It was touch and go for a long while but he's improved slowly hes off dialysis and down to oxygen support via a nasal canular. He's been moved onto a ward today to continue his recovery. Hold on and don't give up hope this forum is full of surviours. Praying for ur partners recovery xx

cc-sn.org runs a regular relatives drop-in on Tuesday evening - if you ever felt this might benefit ( and many people do 😊) - just fill out the contact us page on website. I hope. Your partner turns a significant corner soon, it is very possible to recover from the direst of places

I hope your partner stabilises and improves. My brother spent time in critical care with sepsis and organ failure from flu. ICU is a rollercoaster for family. your partner will receive good care by experienced staff. My brother was out on dialysis while in a coma and they advised the kidneys are the last to recover. Thinking of you and your partner and family and wishing a good recovery.
