All I can say is that when I was in icu before covid what my family wanted was a level of optimism from the doctors. However they tend to be pessimistic- I suppose they think it’s better to be on the safe side rather than giving relatives too much hope. My family were called in twice to be told I wouldn’t make after time they changed their tune to saying they needed to get me stable and they didn’t how long that would be. I caught infection after infection and they tried all sorts of antibiotics after about 2 months I came round. So there is always hope.Don’t forget you can always ask for a second opinion

Take care of yourself

My dad had this problem , saying they couldn’t renew lines his body was so swollen and they was running out of places to put them in. I begged them not to give up. He was 78 days on a ventilator and his kidneys failing but after getting pleural infusion and litres of fluid drained form his lungs he had improvements slowly . Don’t give up fighting for him xx

I won’t I’m begging them not to stop treating him I’m terrified they won’t listen

Sorry to read about your husband. I was seriously ill in ICU last year first with an infection and then with Covid. I know at certain points my family were told to expect the worst, but in my case the doctors did all they could to treat me and some how I pulled through. I had antibiotis, blood transfusions, was on a ventilator, and had a tracheotomy. In total I was in ICU for 14 weeks and in care for a total of 7 months. Hopefully your husband will start to respond to treatments.

I’m so pleased to hear you’re making a recovery Syd has had so many complications due to the COVID he’s been in icu for 7 weeks and ventilated for 6 now he has blood clots everywhere so they can’t put in any new lines so high risk of more infections he already has sepsis from perforated bowel and pneumonia its so worrying the doctors have said it’s highly unlikely he’ll survive but I’m not giving up just 🙏he will somehow pull through

in reply to

I had sepsis and my kidneys are permanently damaged. I also developed blood clots but they cleared with drugs, firstly a daily injection and then a tablet until november last year. I just hope your husband will respond soon, I can only be grateful for doctors and nurses and follow up treatments I have had sunce. I am sure they will be doing all they can.

Thank you I’ll ask them about the injections they’ve not mentioned that

I’ve just asked the doctor about injections but she said he’s on all the medication he can be on just 🙏they disperse so they can put in a new line
