My brother has been in ICU due to COVID for over two weeks. He was alert but difficulties with his breathing. Doctors recommended he be put on a ventilator he didn't want for the first two weeks but did so as his oxygen level was not improving. 2 days being on the ventilator he had a stroke. Doctors are now saying he is not responding still on the ventilator but they are going to stop sedating him. Does this make sense?

Are they talking about trying to wean him off ventilator? This is what they would do - have they mentioned trachy? Or are they talking about removing all support because he is unresponsive?
