Critical care neuropathy - 22 months later

After surviving multiple organ failure and sepsis 22 months ago. Physical recovery has been clear but very slow. I am very grateful for what I have today compared to when I left the hospital in a wheelchair unable to walk, climb stairs or even dress alone. Today I can walk 4 miles, play 9 holes and yesterday even had some form of a kick about with my kids. I do still have pain and numbness and swelling of my ankles in particular and still strange numbness and tightness of my feet. But can function. Has anyone had any improvements further down the line with these types of symptoms or even sharing what physical recoveries you are using to help. Mine is mix of herbal supplements, walking and compression socks at times + a good sketcher. Thanks for reading.

I still have weakness around the body, I would also get severe cramping & joint pain, along with sepsis I also have a type of leukaemia that mimics a lot of the symptoms of Post Sepsis Syndrome & Post Intensive Care Syndroms ( PSS & PICS). I found taking magnesium dramatically reduced cramping & joint pain.

Exercise & yoga has helped me otherwise.

If you are interested, we run two weekly session of both over zoom with trainer & instructor.

Hi. You posted a question that hits home. My dad is recovering from covid and now in a rehab facility. its been about 2 months that he is doing OT and PT. He is walking well. His issue is his hands. right one is so weak and the left is completely dead weight and swollen. arms do move from shoulder to elbow. could this possibly be an issue of needing time or something else? he has shooting pains and tingling in both arms and hands. did you experience anything like this with your hands? thank you!!

Hi, according to my dads neurologist it will takes time. Several weeks to months. My aunt is a doctor and she said to expect 6-9 months because that is how long peripheral nerves take to regenerate. My dads is also recovering from covid for the past few months and his left hand is super weak and his legs are too, but we have seen some minor improvements in the last few weeks that give us hope.

I had weak arms for about 12-18 months. I play golf now. Feet have improved slower.
