Thank you for this. I think it’s just starting to hit me now how difficult the future is going to be. I can see my husband trying to process what has happened and also what is real and what are hallucinations as they are so real. Whilst our time when he was on a ventilator was a complete hell I realise the hard work starts when he comes home so any preparatory information for this is really helpful.

Have a look at this manual too. Don’t be put off by its size - just use what is useful & pertinent

Our support group is also launching a zoom exercise group specifically for ex Covid patients - it has been done in collaboration with the critical care physiotherapy department of Countess of Chester Hospital - it is a chair based exercise session ideal for anyone leaving critical care at this time. We have one session running already - this is aimed at people further down the line - which you can move onto once fit enough. This new session will start 19/6/20 - please private message me if you want details.

Thanks so much, I think it will be a while before he is out of ICU and home yet but will have a look at the manual and consider the zoom exercises once he is.

A interesting read which totally reflects my experience in recovering from Covid. I am grateful that I have not experienced the nightmares since I came out. The feelings of not being understood are shared by me.

I have been out 8 weeks now and would be delighted to support anyone going through the same. There is helpful information I have now that I desperately wish I had 8 weeks ago!

Thank you - bit of a morning of it today. After 2 hrs they abandoned getting staples out of head. Rushed me off to armpit biopsy ( you don’t often get many of those to the pound) done. Lunch half an hour later lumbar puncture - which makes biopsy a treat. Hopefully they will rule in or out that my leukaemia has morphed into a lymphoma - feeling pretty poked about today - especially when they want blood at 5am

Oh Sepsur, sounds like you're going through so much right now yet still managing to reply to all of us that seek support and advice!

I came out 8weeks ago after 2weeks on sixty percent oxygen and cpap machine ,nightmares headaches fatigue I would love to chat to u Peter pm me

just read the article and realised how faint-hearted I am! So the negative is that i recognise and am experiencing these symptoms. The positive is that I will not be governed by percentages, probabilities or statistics. Acquiring covid and ending up on a ventilator made me stop believing things are unlikely and conversely I need to hang onto the belief that i can escape brain fog and fatigue
