Hubby is home after Covid 19

So after 86 days in ITU, recovery and rehab, my husband came home yesterday. Covid has damaged his kidneys (stage 2 - not quite sure what that means yet as we haven't had any follow up information) , heart failure etc.

I asked the rehab could they take some bloods as when he was in ITU his HG count was low and he needed transfusions. his HG is now 104 and his white count is slightly high. I am concerned as the results said the blood was clumping, the doctors are taking bloods on Monday, I asked why they clumped they said it could be they way they were stored, I can't stop worrying .

I think we will get a visit from somebody next week . My husband is very tired , weak and very sad, his feet seem to be the issue , he has no real movement on them and says they feel so heavy, the pain is constant in them. He also has drop foot .

We were told 3 weeks ago, by the OT we will need a bed downstairs , as he couldn't walk, We didn't :) He managed our stairs very slowly yesterday and twice today. He has walked up and down the small road we live on today .

He had a bath last night which he proclaimed was bliss , we had a bath lift delivered along with lots of other walking aids from our local council, which has made personal care much easier for us .

We are so happy to have him home and will update you of the progress.

Good luck,I'm happy for you I'm eight weeks after Icu recovery, was not be vented but CPAP and sixty percent oxygen,I'm eight weeks on and returning to work 1st July it takes time but I got betterx

I am so pleased for you this is amazing , he’s came such a long way . Take time for yourself as well, I think it’s such a scary time once their home and although am so ready for my dad to be home it’s slightly unsettling .

I wish him a speedy recovery .

I found a site called post-covid.org.uk It’s run by the British heat foundation and asthma U.K.

it’s been set up to help covid patients in their recovery and there is respiratory specialist on hand to answer questions Monday to Friday . May come in useful .

Take care xxx

Just trying to take one day at a time at the moment. We plan to start doing some charity work for the NHS to keep us busy and do something good in her memory xx

A very rewarding thing to do in her memory ,I can't even imagine what you all must be going through. I'm also thinking of doing some voluntary work at the hospital once my husband is more stable .
