No I didn’t gain weight, I lost an immense amount / hope you find your answer

What I would add is that I became diabetic due to a course of steroids - it flipped me into type 2 - with careful diet & gentle exercise - I am now a very healthy weight, sugar for me wasn’t an issue - it was carbs. So I now measure correct portion size of rice, pasta, potato - do brown if I can, limit bread, crisps, cheese biscuits etc. Fats were ok up to a point. Anyway I maintain a healthy weight now despite having treatment for leukaemia

The problem after septic shock is that most of the weight that patients lose is muscle. Once home and eating normally it is easy to put on fat rather than muscle. The muscle goes very quickly during the illness but to put it back on afterwards needs a good balanced diet with plenty of protein and gradually increasing exercise. You might benefit from doing one of the exercise videos on the ICUsteps website at icustepschester.org/exercis.... Walking is also a very good exercise. Don’t desperate. If you put on muscle you might find you don’t lose weight but you do lose inches. Measure your virtual statistics once a month to check that. See the British Dietetics Association for help with healthy eating at bda.uk.com/resource/healthy....
