Cognitive function after sedation

I asked a few questions a few times and got positive responses so thank you

Mom went to hospital with low bp and extreme weakness Saturday afternoon and was diagnosed with sepsis. She was put on ventilator during the night after sedating her. They took her off sedation Friday. She was sedated for 4.5-5 days. Doctors are saying shes hardly responsive (today more then the day before yesterday). She was sedated sunday-friday.. they are saying she should be coming out of it by now. She reacts to pain (pressing on finger) but nothing else. I am very worried. They did brain ct and it was normal. They will do mri now and do some other neurological tests

How long did it take for you guys to see cognitive function after sedation post sepsis.

All I know is that the sedation can hang about in their body for quite some time. I would have thought that since your mum has liver cancer that she is maybe not metabolising it as quickly as others? I could be wrong though.

I was thinking that too.. we brought it upto her oncologist and he said, we need to make sure her cognitive ability is ok.. im just very scared

Ofcourse you are. I wonder if you can have a meeting with his Dr? I am sure that would be so much better than just phone updates. Visitors are banned from seeing patients but not medical staff.
