Sepsis Recovery

I was diagnosed with sepsis a year ago, I'm able to walk now without any assistance and my balance is a bit okay, but I'm having trouble with my joint pain especially on my knees and toes, and also the numbness of my muscles. What should I do? I'm currently on therapy but there's no difference. Will it be gone or I should I just live with it? I'm so lost.

I found that the numbness has largely gone now, that is 3.5yrs after discharge. I had no feeling on the tops of my feet & my toes were dormant / now a little active. Hands & fingers can be stiff & sore , especially when cold or wet. I get really severe knee pain infrequently now - feels like my knees are on fire. I also get severe cramps at night - I was recommended to take magnesium which has worked on cramp. The rest has just lessened over time. I do exercise to keep as mobile as possible - physical work/ dog walking etc.

Thanks! My Rehab doctor wasn't convinced that this pain I'm dealing with was due to Sepsis. As much as I want to do physical work, some days these pain disabling me to do so.

It definitely is due to sepsis or being on life support or something because I have the same pains. 2 years ago is when I first got out of the hospital, almost. I went into my coma on 12/29/17. Anyhow, when I got home, I couldn't walk, I couldn't feel my legs from the upper shins down at all or my feet, now I can feel a little lower on both legs and there's much more feeling about the whole situation. Also I have way more feeling in my feet. They are almost back to normal, not 100%, I'd say 85%. But that's from feeling nothing! I didn't think I'd ever even be able to drive again and I can now safely drive.

It's all just a Lol g and winding road and we need to handle it with as much grace and dignity as we can and we need to be loved and kindly cared for along the way and encouraged. I will encourage you to not give up! It will get better. We serve a God who can move mountains. Do not give up on Him!

Thanks Goodmom.

I fell into a coma too and was on life support for almost a month, same story, I couldn't walk and talk. I felt the pain on my knees after a few months I got discharge but I just ignore it as I thought it will just be gone. And now the pain keeps on increasing.

Back in October 2016 I was hospitalized for 40 days due to sepsis caused by a surgical complication. In ICU for over a week and 9 surgeries to clean out my infected organs. My stomach was open for weeks due to all the swelling. Once the docs were able to stitch me up I was on home care for some more time with a smaller opened wound.

My saving grace was that I am an avid runner and cyclist so my hear was strong and I was lucky enough not to have any organ damage or loss of limbs. It has been a long road to recovery, but all I can say is I started being active as soon as I could. First with walking...slowly...than increasing my distance and speed. I am now back to running and riding. I have digestive issues and horrible scars, but consider myself lucky. The only thing that helped is exercise for me. It is what healed me. Do whatever you can...eventually things will get better.

Oh, thank you so much! I badly need that...these past few days I'm losing my hopes. I had an extensive brain damage and the after effects of it plus the sepsis makes me hella crazy :))

So, yesterday my Doc prescribed me pregabalin for the pain and also referred me to a Psychiatrist as she suspected that I'm dealing with depression/PTSD. Fibromyalgia was also brought up but wasn't discuss that much.
