My mom had sepsis just a few weeks ago. They put her in a ventilator and dialysis machine and in an induced coma. They stopped the sedation in the second day, but she didn't wake up for 6 days. It wasn't till 3 weeks later that she finally was strong enough to breathe on her own and got the ventilator out.
Sometimes sedation just takes a long time to work it's way out of the body, especially when it is very weak. Have faith and talk to her, play music she likes. I don't know if it helped or not, but my mom started blinking her eyes after 6 days bit still very sleepy, when my brother was talking to her, and was conscious and fully awake after 8 days.
I had liver cirrhosis when I was put in a coma and they kept trying to wake me up it took 4 weeks ... It just doesn't help with the cirrhosis, because the liver is damaged it can't get rid of the drugs as quickly as they would like it will take time but she will come round x
