Good friend in coma 5 days ICU 10

I have a friend that we believe attempted suicide by overdose. He was in a coma 5 days. He was in hospital for 2 weeks now in rehab. He is confused at times, at times he's totally there. Learning to walk and do things on his own. He can eat and drink on his own but that's about it. It's been 4 weeks. Am I expecting to much to soon? He's come a long way even in a week but still very weak. Plus wondering should all his memory come back?

It takes time I was weak for months, my memory is rubbish now I was more forgetful for a while at first but I can never remember names or appointments unless I write them down....

Was he put in an induced coma? If so the drugs are terrible and take a very long time to come out of the system

He will also be dealing with why he wanted to kill himself as well he won't snap out of that easily, be patient you will get your friend back in time x

Hi. Sounds like your friend was troubled and has the attempt on his own life to contend with as well as his recovery. He will need lots of support to improve including time and patience from his friends and family. My sepsis was in November 2017 and I am still recovering. It has taken a lot of will power and healthy living which your friend may find hard if his state of mind isn't good. Hope he gains strength soon. Xx
