Hi so I'm a 16 year old female. I love singing. I used to be able to sing but recently I attempted suicide by overdose and they had to use an intubator to pump my stomach. It has been a month since the intubation and my voice is still not fully recovered. My voice is scratchy especially when singing and I can no longer hit high notes when I sing. I also am not able to scream, not even on reflex, it just comes out like a high pitched breath out. Will my vocal chords ever recover fully??

Voice After ICU Intubation Problem
I hope your voice improves soon, sometimes the healing process takes longer than we would hope and of course nothing is guaranteed in life. Maybe a vocal coach would be able to give you the correct exercises to strengthen your vocal chords (?)
It will improve it will take a few months I sounded like I was a chain smoker for months afterwards but was all back to normal ... Hope you are feeling better x
So sad for you that you attempted suicide. Feel free to PM if you ever get too bored.
I've done a bit of singing myself from being in local bands ect. (you should try this if you haven't already. it's the only place I feel I belong to be honest)
But your voice is a muscle. I would have said not to use it in such a way for a bit. but like any muscle it can be rebuilt.
