Mom in ICU with cirrhosis complications - let to septic shock - led to ARDS

My mom had undiagnosed cirrhosis until she went septic and I called 911. They thought she had an infection but never did. Started to improve then suffered a rapid respiratory decline. Again no infection just confusion from dr. She started out pretty lucid then started to lose her awareness after day 4 on oxygen a combo of liver disease and just being in the hospital. She also has damaged kidney function. Heart is stable. Because of these factors they gave her a breathing tube and put her in ICU for first time since hospitalization. I'm desperate for stories of hope, answers to what this might be, similar stories. My mother is my everything and I'm devastated and shocked since we were just on vacation 2 weeks ago.

Not yet. But last night her blood pressure dropped and she had a short term fever. This hadnt happened since we first brought her in. She does not have ARDS fluid they can't get rid of. She's not requiring a ton of ventilation but the kidney is getting worse so they are doing something to start removing fluid.
