I have just been told I am positive for this condition and there running tests to see how bad it is..
Hello Susie
Welcome to our group. Please do not be terrified you have got over a very big hurdle and have been diagnosed; many people fight for ages to get believed and diagnosed.
Hughes Syndrome (APS) can be well managed, with appropriate anticoagulation medication and many patients lead almost normal lives. Have you been put on any medication yet?
You are among friends here and we all help each other.
Best wishes.
Dave
I have not started medication yet but I also have asthma what medication do they use??
hello susie , I too was terrified after being diagnosed 7 years ago , it will get easier once you have come to terms with the diagnosis , the medication can be anything from a baby aspirin to warfarin . all depends on if you have had a clot . try not to woory too much and this site is great for sharing any concerns x
I don't know if I can have aspirin as i have got asthma.. Thank you
have you ever had a clot
No thank god
then my guess would be just an aspirin if your allowed . some people are only affected in pregnancy by APS
I'm not pregnant so it's not due to that... I have had 3 miscarriages that's why they tested me for it
what i meant was , some people only have a problem problem when they are pregnant , i was diagnosed after 3 miscarriages , but i also had a clot . I am 44 now and found out when i was 37 . but had probably had it for many years . the hughes foundation website is the best place for answers as its not scary , unlike a lot of the websites x
My mum sister and little brother suffers with under active thyroid and I'm tested reguallary for it and that's come back normal so I'm ok with that x
