I get that too but no idea what it is. I get several types of headaches and the drs just don't seem interested. I hope you get some answers.

Any information would be greatly appreciated! I was told by the doctors unless my vision is affected not to worry....but they are stressfull!
Hi Jean, me too. Sometimes they come on so suddenly and are so sharp that they make me jump and yelp. Have never asked the doc about them. Larraine x

Hi I have that too, either side of my head above the temple - gone in seconds but enough to make you yelp!! Thank god it only lasts a few seconds xxx
I get an elctrical stabbling pain in the top right side of my head. It doesn't last long but is excruciating. Have never asked dr about it, but I think it is all part of the post stroke/TIA'a
thing . I get TIA's frequently..
Hi yes I do too, often have what I can only describe as an ice cube being dropped into scull too,
A lot of mine I asume is down to migraines or low inrs x
I had those too. But not after warfarin. Warfarin has helped me a lot with the neurological symtoms.Tell the doctor about it!
This may not be related, but thought I'd chime in-- do you get fever blisters, otherwise known as herpes simplex? I had them on my lips and nose a lot as a teenager, and during college finals -- they came out with sun and/or stress or ill with fever, when the virus remains dormant on a nerve until agitated. I learned to control them and rarely get them now, maybe once or twice a year. When I do, sometimes I get the "electric shock" jabs of pain on one side of my head, above the ear. Just for a second, but it comes in regular intervals, sometimes as soon as every minute or so. I brace myself for the next one. I call it the Chinese Torture Zap. It used to last only an hour or few hours, but once it lasted a couple of days and I felt like I was going insane and swallowed lots of ibuprofen. I didn't care at that point that I shouldn't on warfarin since ibu is the only pain relief that works with me. The nerves really affect us -- when my mother's rheumatoid arthritis had already severely crippled her joints, she would get the electric shocks in her body, jumping a mile high in pain. It lasted, off and on, for at least 6 months or a year (she never wanted to complain.) Then, mercifully, it stopped. This was after her hands, shoulders, knees, feet were severely deformed from the RA.
Thank you very much for the suggestion!! I will check it out. It would definitely be a godsend for when I get the Chinese Torture Zap.
Now it is occurring to me that my husband occasionally has gotten a pain shooting thru his leg and gets a sore patch of skin above his tailbone every once in a long while. It sort of looked like a herpes virus, but the doctor suspected it was shingles.
Since a very young age, I get a sharp pain, like an electric shock. above my left ear. It lasts only up to 10 seconds. It happens only about once every two months or so. I always thought it was maybe a pinched nerve, but looking at the responses, it looks like it may be related to our condition???
Oh boy, why is there no answer to this. I wanna know what's causing it too
I started having these this morning, it's been 6 hours now. They come every 45 seconds and last 5 seconds. I timed them. I need to even stop breathing and close my eyes when it's happening from the strong stabbing pain. I'm going to the ER in a few minutes, hopefully ill get an answer.
Hi, not sure if this will help, i have had thr same pain for the past day or so, and have had it in the past. I find after a very strange crack in my ear the pain was gone. The sound is like dislocated bones being realined.
