I will. I have been trying to eat well and have lost a good bit of weight. I am 5'9" and I weigh 12.5 stone (175 pounds). I want to be at 10 or 10.5 stone.

Just got off a round of steroids and stopped smoking that added a stone onto my weight so I hope that will be easy to drop. I know I wont be able to lose the rest until I really give daily exercise a shot.

There are 14 pounds in a stone for the Americans out there....

Hi Hanna,

good for you, we often try to eat heathier, (me & hubby) we often have quorn instead of meat, even though we're not vegetarians, as it has less fat, before I had APS I was about 10 - 10.5 stone, I am 5.8, then when got APS I went up to 14 - 14.5!!!! at 1st I was in so much pain I couldn't even get from a-b, but after putting up with it for about 3 months I had to do something...so I made myself go to the gym & replace some meals with smoothies....I went down to 10.5 - 11! I find it hard to keep it off though, even with gym, eating resonably well even now :( I often cant eat a meal recently as I get pains in stomach after eating a meal :( so I'll often only have cereal, toast & smoothies most days!

I believe it is good for you mentally & physically going to the gym for us even if it means just using the swimming pool at times :)

Good luck, I'm not too far from you, hopefully we will meet up one day...or you can join me in the gym!

Sue xx

hay gals ,just read hana blog -was wondering , stone , so stopped and looked it up , then went on reading . should of just kept reading on,kristina made that a lot easier. i have to watch my weight, do to border line diabetes.,my other concern is im shrinking was5.5 now 5.4 isnt gravity a wonderful thing. im a little on the hyper side ,that keeps me preety much in check. here the b.m.i. they use isnt very accurate.it can lead you to believe stats that are to general . im not tall , but very broad upper torso so this index easily puts me on the over weight side .i think what i need is a body stretch what do you think ?? bbn for now jet

Exercise is fantastic for weight loss and it definately works but some of us struggle with the pain. I saw the consultant in London yesterday and was advised to lose weight and he agreed that it is hard when you are in pain but just have to do what you can do even if its a little ! I mentioned the pain I am experiencing in my heels which reduced me to tears last week as i could not walk. The pain was like walking on hot broken glass if this makes sense ! The consultant said that this is an APS symptom and is to do with the nerve endings in the heel and the electricity in the body. He did not mention how to help with the pain and i forgot to ask as my memory is getting worse but if anybody out there knows what pain relief I can take I would appreciate it. When i am feeling good i cannot wait to do some more exercise but until my pain improves I cannot bear the pain at the moment and I don't think overweight helps with this condition !!!!

Julie Anne I.m sorry your heels give you pain. I hope you find a painkiller that works for you. Let me know how you get on. My memory is rubbish too lol x

Hanna, you are amazing ! How do you do this ? Are you in any pain with your condition ? I love exercise but unfortunately it makes the pain worse and i am out of order for a couple of days because my body goes so stiff and will not do what i want it too!!!! x

I haven't lost any weight since last posting and maybe gained a tiny bit. This weekend cutting out dairy and cutting back on carbs a lot.

Reading a book by Allen Carr about dieting so maybe that will help me? His stop smoking book changed my life I do know that!!

I rode just over 6 miles on my mountain bike today and will do the same tomorrow!! Its a start as I haven't done much since the flare began a few weeks ago. I have the stone I gained back to lose plus one more stone on top of that.

Want to get in shape enough to ride through Europe next summer!

Hi Hanna.

I have also done that today, I have the same amount to loose, and a lifetime of diet failures to overcome, my day one is tomorrow, so yes I'm with you, we need all the support we can get. Thanks for posting.
