Does anyone know a specialist in Australia? East coast would be preferable. Lots of doctors know a bit but would not define themselves as a specialist. Any info truly appreciated.

APS specialist in Australia?
OzChick might know...
Hiya, enclosing the charity website, with that and some local knowledge on here, hopefully you will find some help. ghicworld.org/ghic-consulta... MaryF
Where along the east coast are you located? Near Rockhampton by any chance?
Gold Coast?
Hi Rockcats, I am in Brissy but don't have an APS specialist. My GP has referred me to an immunologist, rheumatologist and others, but none of them were specialists in APS and I wasn't impressed with them. So now I am just under the care of my gp who has learnt about APS along with me. There is lots of good info on this site and also research papers that I print out and give to my gp. Best of luck.
rockcats4,
A lady on here, Ozchick , has been participating in comments on posts today after a hiatus due to a health crisis of her own with APS.
She is in Australia, I believe in the outskirts of Sidney.
Because she is active ( somewhat) today, do you mind reaching out to her and asking her who her specialists are ? What her opinions are?
Otherwise I spoke with my husband day before yesterday. Our good friend lives near Rockhampton, right on the ocean. ( little town starts with a y - Yampoon? )
Also has a home in Bilouela ? ( spelling?) a bit more inland? He has a commercial mugwump farm. He used to live in Texas - as a teenager. He’s now 62 like my husband. A couple of summers ago my husband and our 17 year our son visited him there.
His wife sadly passed of cancer - but we were all such good friends.
Our friend Frank has learned a bit about APS. I wonder if his wife had a really good oncologist/ hematologist he still has ties with? ( these are really a lot of unanswered questions.. too many.)
This is why I asked where you were. If you had specialist of APS in Sidney… and a GP local to support you- as long as they could tie in with Sidney specialists…. You need local support on the coal face of it.
Sounds like Brisbane would be closer- and Suntap already has a GP who at least has heard of it…
Thanks for all that. It’s Yeppoon that is near Rockhampton.I’ve been in contact with Ozchick and got the name of her specialist.
My doc asked at a meeting of professionals on the coast here and no body had experience with the disease.
Once a year I see my heart specialist who knows the name and read a bit and I rely on the blood clinic to adjust my Warfrin
In a few weeks I will make contact with Ozchicks doctor. Many thanks for your help.
