Hi I have a question to those knowledgable in the topic. Besides the positive antibodies does APS show in the blood work?
Thank you!

Hello, are you asking if APS would be detected in routine blood work like a cbc?
Yes. I am wondering if routine blood work would give a hint about APS.
Routine bloodwork is very important to monitor. I have full cbc with complement done twice a year to monitor my organ systems. Keeping an eye in our kidneys, platelet count, inflammation etc. Also my rhuemetologist does a full autoimmune panel once a year to make sure I am not developing any new autoimmune diseases.
Very often ( not always as we are all different) we tend to run a little low on WBC.
It would not surprise me if you are 4.4, 4.2...
Also, keep an eye on Iron storage level- the ferritin count. Ask for it specifically. Anything under 50 is low. We can someone low.
You are male, correct? This will work in your favor. ( not menstruating. ) Gender matters with APS , as the devil is in the details here do thank you for allowing me to ask and share these kinds of questions and share these important details.
( birth control/ menopause / pregnancy is hugely relevant and often driving topics of research and conversation in APS as estrogen
Promotes clotting - and the interplay of ratios of hormones is so critical in many phases of a woman’s life. )
I’d like to learn more about the role of hormones in men and APS. Is there one? I’m guessing likely.
Our son has antibodies. He is now 19, and was tested when he was 15/16.
He now has the migraines. His neurologist said at about age 20 he would predict we might see more issues and he was right.
Dr Jason Knight is a rheumatologist at the uni of Michigan, and is a top us rheumatologist for APS.
Dr Jill Schofield is in Denver Colorado. She’s another top contender.
Really useful information, so glad you can help us with so much from the US! MaryF
These are the tests that have been run on me for APS
ANA testThrombophilia panel
Lupus Anticoagulant
Beta2 Glycoprotein
Anticardiolipin
Hopefully if investigations are going on, your doctor will do the three main tests for Hughes Syndrome/APS, most doctors will if there is suspicion that this disease is a possibility, we also encourage our members to investigate their Thryoid levels, plus D, B12 Folate and Ferritin as all of these impact autoimmune disease.
