Hi everyone unfortunately I have bad news , my mum got admitted to hospital with covid 19 and has been there since Tuesday, me and my dad feel sick and took a test on Wednesday and found out we both have it as well , keep getting fevers and cant taste or smell but what I noticed this morning is that the right leg were I have had 2 clots is very painful this morning from the calf upwards and tight, I know that covid and aps are a bad mix should I get this checked for clots if it gets any worse ?

Please call 111 straight away. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi, firstly I hope your Mum is ok and improving?Secondly, yes you need to get checked out, not wait for this to get worse, call 111 initially and see what they say?

Advice for APS patients at moment is to keep up all medication, especially anticoagulants, keep hydrated and try to keep moving, even in small spurts.

If you have a specialist, try and contact them to report in and get any further advice?

How's Dad, if 111 say you need to go into hospital, (hopefully not) but is there someone that can help him?

You must seek continued advice if you have any changes like these, don't be fobbed off please, I know they are all busy, but your care counts. MaryF

I have had many DVTs in my legs. Keep them elevated as often as possible, preferably with the leg straight and the ankle higher than your heart. I still use my " wedge," pillow under my legs if I notice a stray pain in a leg. Heating pads may help. Support hose may help - just make sure that the top attachment does not restrict blood flow in the thigh. And drink water- not colas, but water. But run these suggestions by your health care provider. Hope your Mom and all family recover well and swiftly!

I agree with HollyHesky above!

Try to keep the Warfarin in the correct INR to avoid clots. Covid-19 also has to do with clots very often.

2 days ago HollyHesky suggested you should call your Specialist of APS. How did that go?

Please let us hear how it goes for you. Good Luck. Hope your father is ok.

Jonny, sorry I’m a little late in coming on to the thread.

I’ll only add that if you are having symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea, you must absolutely be seen immediately as this will affect the inr terribly.

A virus in general will for that matter , in general, but GI sickness really does a number on the inr.

If you can, an update when you are up to it- and I do hope you have been spared a nasty case.

Much virtual support snd good wishes, for you and mother.

Kelly

My rhuemetologist said that if I should contract covid I would be switched to lovenox shots as warafin or any of the doacs may not be protective enough.
