Exercise is dangerous!

I usually go for a walk with the dog every day in our lovely 21C midday weather. Feeling a bit tired last Friday so decided to take a shortcut through a shopping centre car park and tripped over one of the humps in the ground to stop cars going too far forward. Face planted on the tarmac and winded myself. Dog got a bit concerned but we walked the last 500m home. Next day I had trouble breathing and very sore when I moved so Hubby persuaded me to see Doctor and get Xray. Upshot is 2 broken ribs and painkillers with rest for at least 2 weeks!

Hi OZ That horrible -Be careful my friend . WE don't mend as easy as when we were youngsters .. .Take the time and don't go to fast with getting back to being to mobile - i know from my many years of getting myself busted up . 6 broken bones and many sprang's and torn ligaments .-last May I was on the Cipro { with only a couple of days left on it } and they told me to walk slow no stairs if i could avoid Them because of the damage that i could AND did to my Ham Strings back of both legs chasing after my almost blind dog Casey that got frightened and was headed for the river and the hydro dam right there so I ran after him and stomped on his leash he had pulled out of my hand when he got frightened . I may have this problem for life now . Doc told me . So I am on the slow and easy myself . best to you OZ and keep me up on how you are coming along with this . WE can tell each other stories LOL . !! Hugs from Casey and I my friend .

I have often wondered if those pavement humps actually cause more problems than they solve.

I too have dealt with cracked ribs. Mine was thanks to an anonymous Boy Scout. I was swimming in a lake in Tennessee and a Boy Scout, from the troop which arrived on the beach shortly after I did, had been swimming underneath me. I rose to the surface, and then he rose to the surface as well and then kicked off. When he kicked off he kicked me. I lost my breath and I sank. I was in a lot of pain and very confused. I figured I was going to drown. I knew I needed to get to the surface but I wasn't even sure which way up was. And then I saw my friend's cocker spaniel in the water in front of me. She pointed her nose up and lead me to the surface. The spaniel had seen what had happened from the beach and she immediately jumped into the water to rescue me, which she did. dogs are so smart and they would and will do anything for their friends.

I wore an uncomfortable brace and tried desperately to avoid sneezing ( which is hard to do in Nashville in peak magnolia bloom season.) But I had recovered in @6 weeks.

Stay strong, and watch out for those pavement humps!
