Hi Guys.
Two weeks ago I fell in the garden, breaking my elbow, and sustaining a heomotoma to my leg.
Is there any particular risk, re clotting or anything APS related that I should be wary of?

Hi, there can be a risk to anybody of a clot with a break, and please continue on your normal medication and do contact your GP and specialist by phone or email if you have any new symptoms at all. There is more of a risk if you are very immobile. I hope you have a swift recovery and feel better as soon as possible, please keep hydrated in the hotter weather. Big hugs. MaryF
Hi, you've been thru the wars!
As Mary says, keep as mobile as you can, even if it's small movements of limbs frequently and keep hydrated.
Keep up your normal meds and if there is anything your worried about speak to your GP.
Heal quickly x
I had one two years ago on my leg
following a fall. If it is a large one worth getting it checked to see if needs draining and seek advice if it shows signs of infection. My left leg was black and blue from knee to foot!
I had it checked and dressed each week for three months and it eventually healed. Mine was caused by falling out of bed so I now have a foam bar to stop it happening again. Hope yours heals ok and your elbow too.
Hi,
I saw you eventually had other autoimmun illnesses as well as APS. Who diagnosed you with APS and are you on bloodthinner at the moment? Why did you fall? From some dizziness or did you just unluckilly trip?
Kerstin
Hi Kirsten.
It was Prof.D,Cruz who diagnosed me.
I was taken off aspirin last year after taking it since 2007.
Currently only on hydroxychloroquine.
It wasn,t a flare that made me fall.
I have been remarkably well recently, since lockdown.
Clearly staying home, but pootling in garden suits me.
It was wet grass, and my grandaughter had been trying to erect a gazebo the day before, but gave up, and left the poles all over.
I was composting, and slipped on my way back to kitchen
I am an experienced hiker. Therefore, when hiking with The Club in the snow, I should go last. Right? Because last will have the slickest footing and I am one of the most experienced hikers in the club. Right? I wont fall.
Wrong. Broke my ankle. Lots of bruising. My doc told me that given my clotting syndrome it was important to keep the leg elevated and do toe stretch exercises several times a day. I realize your break is in the elbow , but keeping it elevated and doing doc-authorized mini exercises will probably help.
Good luck! And I hope the gazebo project goes well. ( The garden will miss you, but all will be well in the end.
( I planted asparagus 3years ago. This is the year when I am searching for new asparagus recipes because I am harvesting 3-5 spears a day.)
I can’t add anything else to what others have said, sending cyber hugs to you and hope leading progresses well.
Love and hugs
J
Thank you 🙂
