How many of my fellow APS people have had issues with cellulitis with out a bite ,{ with me Spider -tick- bee's Etc.} or wound or skin penetration of any kind ??
I am still fighting this and a question of just what it is . So if someone has been thru this I would be interested into what was done and any info really.
I have had 3- IV's , Bactrim 7 days 800 mg twice daily , Cephalexin 500 mg 4 times daily 10 day and now another window of Cephalexin for 5 days 500 mg continued.
I have been referred to a specialist {rhuemy } to try to further identify it. BUT getting into the Hospital for an appointment is going to be difficult because of C-19 and my issues with my health . My PCP has taken action on my INR testing , extending testing out .My INR which has a record of going bonkers while taking anti's . so far it's been holding firm . Anything you may feel helpful would be gratefully appreciated .
Thanks Jet and Casey .

Mary they did a bunch of blood work evry time i went to the ER for the IV'S .Because it was the ER i don't get the results like i would a Doc's office . I will have to get my records or have a Doc's appointment - i use to be able to just go into records dept in Concord Hosp. see Pattie and wella BUT because of the c-19 all dept's are closed and the doors are locked . Great timing for this. MR. Murphy I may get the blood results from Dartmouth from Rheumy's appointment from late Friday afternoon appointment . they are talking possible surgery { i hope it will be an out patient surgery because i have Casey to worry about .this building is all older people { i am one of the youngest here Ha !! } When i looked up Tenosynovitis - it could lead to amputation or full body infection and that isn't good at all .Having this in knee isn't real common .But that's me. I will ask if that was one of the tests. There is a possibility they may be in tomorrow , depending on how busy the lab in Manchester 's Dartmouth Hitchcock is. they may be using CMC 's lab . That is a huge hospital that is part of the medical complex there . this is confusing but i go to 3 different Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospitals - there is one in Lebanon NH and Manchester NH and one in Concord here .Lebanon is the main hospital and it has an Ivory league College there also .They have students from around the world there it is just massive the Hospital Complex building is almost a mile long .,just mind boggling at it's size.If surgery is the final option i have , it will most likely be done up in Lebanon ,this is where all my last 4 surgeries were done.it's an hour and 15 minute drive in good weather .My hips and just about all joints are sore from the Cipro -and i have to be careful - no lifting- no stairs- or turning sharply i can cause damage to the Tendons + Ligaments - and Alkalies Tendons in both heels.God there is a 4 page list of possible issues a person can have with this med. i GUESS IF YOU HAVE TO DO IT --DO IT BIG HA HA .WELL MY EYE'S ARE Threatening to go on strike if i don't let them close - Night all and thanks for the ears.. BBN
From March to October I am on antihistamines - my enemy is mosquitoes and horse flies, went in full swing I spray with Deet (20%) - doesn't always work, get at least 2 episodes with severe reactions and end up in A & E.
I have a dire time with mosquitos and horse flies, I sleep with the windows wide open, all year around, but as soon as it reaches a certain temperature, I have to use the sort of plug in, I would normally use abroad, and also my best friend in terms of a spray is, Incognito, works very well for me as the jungle formula stuff gives me an allergy attack if I use it too much. Hi. I’ve had Cellulitis in Aug ‘18 and July ‘19, both since I’ve had APS. I’ve always reacted to bites but not to the extent I do now. I now use anti bite cream with steroids and this year am introducing antihistamine tablets too to try to prevent it. Insects do seem to head for me and ignore my husband to concentrate on me.
Your magnetic personality- That's what they say about me , I am Like a lunch truck on a construction site !! - I never had issues with spiders wasp's ticks NONE before APS . Though now it's a whole different world .!!
I have a relatively stable INR. Only tested bi-monthly. I had two episodes of cellulitis about 4 years ago. One facial & 1 lower left leg. Both responded well to oral antibiotics. Not aware of any cuts, bites etc.
Thanks Dave - i just this Friday went to see 3 specialist {all in one room !!! that is just about impossible BUT !! } Septic Tenosynovitis BAD . on real strong anti's for 5 or 6 TH time ?? It showed up finally on Doppler Ultra with Contrast .All inside the sheath of tendons -nerves.They couldn't extract hardly ANY fluids for the lab because of where it is . Thanks again Jet
So sorry to read your body has decided to try to trick and fool your doctors again! Happy Palm Sunday! And know that I am sending good vibes from West Virginia!
Thanks Gina - at least wee know more now this all started 2 /28/20 -If it had be addressed properly { i told that doc she was right on here ASSUMPTION } and it was allowed to really get hold . Gina you know how the knee is . The Cipro and the Bactrim AGAIN is really doing a number on my bodies defense ability , I do take a 10 billion Probiotic once a day - my Multi vitamin and my instant breakfast i have evry morning are helping. My Doc Linda is going to have a FIT when she learns what they may have to do . and that is surgery !! i would hope for an out patient status. Skin falling of me in sometimes sheet's like a snake Ha ha skin was stretched to the extreme on that knee.she couldn't get a lot of fluid because of where the inflammation and infection is and it isn't a liquid in the other spots they are saying it is like a gel -Even the 18 gauge needle wouldn't get that . They did manage 1 ml from two syringes so labs should be ready Tuesday for my follow up .Then pharmacy had an issue with hospital and refused to fill my Cipro -The doctor's answering service told the pharmacist to call beck Monday after they open !!!!! They call me "MR MURPHY " for a reason . Got ta LOVE IT . also had to stop some of the meds for my muscle spasms -- been OK so far - 8 days left of Cipro though .. CHEER"S
OOPs doc on first 2 / 28 /20 Friday " WASN'T " right on her assumption of the leg and it wasn't back to normal . and i was having pain up and down that leg front and back . had we done the tests then I could of been better off. BUT these doc's are PCP and not specialists !! BUT the sign's were there .And the ER was i guess pretty much the same - i needed to be at Dartmouth Hospital a whole lot sooner than i was BUT because i needed a referral . Water over the dam now so . Tuck and roll my friends
Jet hope you’re feeling better. I had a tick bite in 2016. It was the sickest I’d ever been including my appendix going gangrenous before they got them out. I ended up with just Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Got it in time so no Lyme disease. Take care,
Thanks for the info H C .I had my next follow up appointment today - Infection not progressing any more and Inflammation not as high as previously was in the bursa . I will continue with Cipro and Bactrim thru remaining windows and if I don't relapse and it doesn't get worse the { SEPTIC TENOSYNOVITIS } and in a couple weeks it shows continued improvement then orthopedics's won't be a necessary. which i guess no surgery at that point. Cipro is responsible for my Flares i am suffering , they come and go mostly in limbs and Butt right now . This i can deal with it as i don't want to interfere with my Antibiotic regiment as it is right now seeing the improvement .I have 7 days left on the Cipro and 4 days left on the Bactrim .if all continues as improving I will have a follow up visit with Rheumy {Dr. Nazli } May 13 TH . Thanks for the info and reply .
