Heat and Me!

Does anyone else get bad effects from hot weather? It seems to bring on more dizziness and feelings of falling over. That’s without my skin feeling on fire. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Yes just yesterday I had a dizzy/tired head episode -woke up feeling fine but it came on mid morning for several hours. Hadn’t been over exerting myself but can’t think of any other reason trigger it. Rested and drunk loads of water.

The heat makes me feel horrible as well. It's been very hot here in California lately. I also hate trouble when it was very cold back when I lived in Utah. Single digit temps and high elevation made me feel terrible. I need to find somewhere to live with perfect weather! Nothing under 30 and nothing over 80!

Lol. Maybe the beach? I also live on in Ca. Very hot here. I’m near Lake Elsinore and golf a lot. The sun is really getting my Malar Rash going

My brother lives in Elsinore and its usually hotter there than where I live in Riverside.

Well we’re practically neighbors. I actually live in Canyon Lake. And yes, it’s hot. My daughter lives in Huntington Beach. Hardly ever gets real hot or cold there but sooo expensive

Yea, I definitely can't afford to live there on VA disability benefits

As soon as I know it’s going to be hot 🥵 I prepare to shut everything up! Blinds drawn, air coolers on and stay indoors. As soon as I go outside I get even giddier, feel as if I’m breathing in fire and I have the feeling my blood is bubbling with the heat. It’s a shame to miss the lovely weather but it’s better than feeling so ill.

Yes. I get the same annoying symptoms in heat and high humidity. I drink along of room temperature water and try to stay cool.

Yes, since being on warfarin I have become very sensitive to temp variations. I never used to have much problem handling hot or cold, now get all sorts of effects including dizzy when it's hot and constant shivering / teeth chattering when it's cold (whilst standing in front of a gas fire in a centrally heated house and wearing jumper and skiing jacket I might add). These problems didn't start when I got APS (were not present after stroke), but rather after I was put on warfarin, and I suspect warfarin is actually the issue.

That’s interesting as when I visit Australia I get shivers in the sun

Heat gets me also especially when i bend over and then stand back up - i have been told by a couple of my Doc's to avoid direct sunlight - long sleeve shirts - wide brim hat - long pants etc BUT i can't avoid it because i have 25 appointments a month from all over the state . so I try to limit the exposure . Tomorrow i have an appointment 60 miles away and have to be there by 7:45 AM so it will still be dark when I leave home. and on way home i have to stop at another Hosp. to do an INR .At this time i hope it is overcast . Best to all C & J

I have to really watch it in the heat, but am a fan of the wet baseball hat, under the tap, and then wrung out and put on, if I have any jobs to do outside of the house or I feel unwell in the heat, this coupled with the right level of hydration. MaryF
