Has anyone gotten stomach ulcers after starting warfarin? I eat healthy, nothing greasy but I have bad stomach pain (right under rib cage were the actual stomach is located) and indigestion. It seems to have started sense warfarin. Anyone else?

I would see your doctor, I am on a drug that protects my stomach depending how severe it is I would see a doctor today / tomorrow

You could ask a pharmacist if there is anything you could take for it until you see a doctor

Hope you feel better soon

Hi, any new pains or more severe than normal we can only advise to see your doctor?

This needs to be investigated, to rule out anything else going on. You mention stomach ulcers, what makes you think this?

Aspirin is well known for upsetting tummy.

Hi, if this is a new symptom for you, you need to urgently seek medical help via your GP, 111 or your main consultant. Please do seek that help and advice please. MaryF

First: check with GP in case this might be a bleeding ulcer. Second: consider that your gut biome may not be in the perfect good bacteria ratio. You might explore consulting with a functional med doctor or a nutritionist who is "up" on the recent gut biome revelations. ( Also, eating healthy greens is essential for a healthy diet and a healthy biome. Warfarin dosage should be made to fit a healthy diet and not vice versa.)

Haven't had an ulcer (at least not diagnosed) but lots of stomach / gut problems and indigestion since warfarin. I get the impression from the doctors' reactions that this is not unusual, they just give you more pills (might work for you, but PPIs just made me even worse).

It may be worth trying moving the time you take warfarin, I searched the internet and found others advising moving the warfarin dose from evening to morning. I started to do this, but you can only move the dose time slowly (an hour change at most) and I got as far as mid afternoon and my gut symptoms reduced dramatically, so I've left it at mid afternoon. On the very rare occasion that I forget and only catch it up after tea I know I am in for a really bad guts night... It may not work for you, but it worked for others and helped me.

Your clinic may say that you "must" take warfarin in the evening, but this is actually for their convenience when dosing you, it's so they can get the lab reports and call people in the afternoon and alter that days dose (if you are self testing or fingerprick tested at clinic its not relevant). In fact any time of day is fine to take warfarin as long as it's consistent.
