This is going to sound ridiculous, but I had this type of pain following my stroke and if I ran arm/hand under warm water it helped tremendously. If unable to do that apply warm compresses but make sure not too hot. You don’t want to burn yourself. Try it and let me know if it helps you?

Do you also have burning? Aching? If so, I wonder if it is your thyroid as in Hypothyroid. The palm of my hand burns, aches... such as carpal tunnel. I fell of my thyroid medicine (simply forgot to take it) for a short while and am now paying a price for it.

Have you considered your diet? I had pains which kept me awake at night a couple of years ago – arms, knees, ankles, back, shoulders – it was painful to lie still and even more painful to change position in bed. I used ibuprofen (which I later stopped) and went on an elimination diet – this resulted in me excluding wheat and dairy products and following an 'anti-inflammatory' diet.

I realise you can't take ibuprofen but it might be worth looking at your diet if you haven't already done so – I think it has helped me – I'm pretty much pain-free at the moment and have been for over a year. Though I have to pace myself – I tried cleaning the windows last week and had pains in my neck and shoulder for several days.

Have you been tested for vitamin D and B12? These are sometimes low in APS.

No problem but do get your Thyroid tested and also do a B12, vit D and Iron test, be aware that your doctor can do some of them, but quite a lot of us do more detailed thyroid tests privately, as more shows up. If you D, Iron and B12 is flat, you will have widespread pain in your body at times. MaryF
