MRI scan

I have suffered a stroke and mini strokes and have aps syndrome and lupus like syndrome should you be given an MRI test once a year ??

My stroke was in 2011 had an MRI in 2013 but just had a new MRI after an operation in sept which showed up micro clots since last MRI in 2013 !

Should I have been having MRI scan once a year any way ??

I guess the decision rests with your consultant and particularly if you have any new symptoms? Sorry to not be clearer. MaryF

I think u would only have an mri if u were symptomatic probably unfortunately to do with cost as mri scans are not cheap!

I've had two strokes and two scans since 2011, so not annually no.

My journey with a diagnosis of APS began with some TIA's back in 2002 and I also have had many micro clots since that time. My doctor has done MRI's each year for a few years now and at my last visit in November he asked me if I wanted to continue to get them and I asked him if it would change my treatment and he said it wouldn't so at this time I am discontinuing getting them annually.

I'm treated at st Thomas by prof hunt and her team 😊

Prof Hughes is here too he is the prof who discovered APS
