Hi

If his test is still positive in 12 weeks time then that would be a confirmed diagnosis of APS.

However, some people are what is called seronegative APS, which means that they test negative but the clinical symptoms indicate APS.

Let us know how he gets on.

It is very important to have all the tests done, and at least something has shown up, however as advised by my co administrators sero negative does exist, and his medical history and symptoms must also be taken into account, and of course a trip to the correct specialist, as you will be aware we have a list on the right hand side of our forum. My hematologist said I had the highest positive he had ever seen, but did not know of a correlation. Any positive is a diagnosis, he said, regardless of how low or high that test comes back. Both of my younger brother have apps as well, and we all test 'highly' positive for IgM. Perhaps your sons doc just want to make sure it wasn't a lab error or a false positive to repeat the test, but it is my understanding that any positive is cause for diagnosis and treatment, and certainly in light of a family history of this insipid disease.

You are right, LA is either positive or negative and the other two tests have ranges.

Hi Bacardibabe,

When I took Lupus Anticoagulant test, before I was put on Warfarin, my tests always had different ranges like the other two bloodtests to diagnose Hughes Syndrome (APS).
