Changing from quinoric to zentiva hydroxychloroquine sulphate.

Hello everyone.

I have been in quinoric for 7 months which has really helped symptoms a lot. I collected my prescription yesterday and it was a different brand. I think the zentiva version is similiar to plaquenil.

I took the new brand last night and have had terrible stomach ache. I wonder if it's coincidence or whether others have experienced the same when been given the other brand. Hope it settles in the next few days.

I'm back at the GP next week as I have virtually 0 vitamin d despite supplements and to have a test for diabetes as I am so thirsty constantly and always going to the loo. I'm hoping it's just my sjogrens flaring making me drink more. I will ask them them about the hydroxy I'm just interested in others experiences.

Thanks in advance

It happened to me but in an opposite way placqunil was brilliant, then changed to hydroxichloroquine made me really ill, the drug I am on now is hydroxichloroquine from Zentiva but your GP must put placqunil on your prescription.

Hope you feel better soon

I am sure it will settle down, this is the drug of choice for St Thomas' Hospital. I do remember my daughter having an initial stomach ache which then settled down and went away. Best of luck. However if it gets out of hand do tell the GP. MaryF
