INR Testing in France - anyone have knowledge of?

Hi Guys. I'm Lupus Anticoagulant positive, diagnosed after multiple PE 4 years ago. Taking Warfarin. Also have had AF episodes and underwent ablation 3 months ago. Generally in good health (is that a contradiction?), fit and active. INR monitoring at local hospital about once per 4-6 weeks at present. Target 2.5.

I have plans to cycle-camp in S France, crossing the Pyrenees, either this autumn or next. My AC nursing sister will regulate my Warfarin dose if I phone her with INR readings (preferably weekly). I'll bet you can guess what's coming next .....

How do I obtain INR readings in France? (I've ruled out self-testing on grounds of cost and reliability re my LA+.)

Advice from my AC clinic is to Google it. I am to the world of online searching, as Genghis Khan was to the world of macramé. Does anyone have any relevant experience, knowledge, or advice, please? Many thanks.

Well, how about that ....!!

58 years with Lupus Anticoagulant and on Warfarin on an INR of 2.5. and you are going to cycle-camp in Southern France and crossing the Pyrenees. That is fantastic!

I am also Lupus Anticoagulant and i selftest with good result on an INR of 3.2 - 3.8. I think you should try selftesting as it would be much easier up there and you should have control. Otherwise you could perhaps phone your nurse (do you live in England?) and she will talk to the doctor and help you with the warfarin.

Personally I think you test very seldom and you are on a very low INR also.

I do hope you have got an APS-Specialist otherwise i think you should try to find one and have some good advice before you go to France!

Best wishes from Kerstin in Stockholm and please tell us how it goes with Everything.

hi lived in France for 7 years...was actually diagnosed there!....they do things slightly differently there...you will need to find a gp who will then write an ordannance for you to go to the nearest laboratoire who will test your blood...but it will cost you..23 euros to see gp and then the lab....!
