When I started taking warfarin a few weeks back I started getting more cramps than usual and in my hands and fingers as well where I've never had cramps before. When the INR level went up they disappeared and if it drops they come back.
Is this a common reaction?

I have not had cramps with warfarin but boy did I have them with statins. My GP tried every one in the book and I just had mega muscle pain and cramps. Just wondering if you have had any other medication given at the same time you were put onto warfarin? My neurologist says that I must say that I am allergic to statins, because of the side affects. My GP's keep trying to get me to agree to going back on them but I just refuse. As I have stated elsewhere, warfarin has been a wonder drug for me. The headaches just disappeared and I feel 'better' on warfarin, if you know what I mean.
I get the most awful leg, foot and big toe cramps, but I am on Dipyridamole and have been for 14 years, I think it may have been brought on by taking Zocor, a statin which gave me very long term dreadful happenings. Now I am 40mg Atorvastatin. I don't like taking statins as they can affect the kidneys and liver, and my kidneys are now affected. I take 300mg Quinine for the cramps but these can affect one's eyesight, and my eyesight is now very poor.
nothing else new apart from the warfarin which made me think it might be that but perhaps an interaction with something else I am taking, but then its not all the time, only when I first started and if the INR drops.
I also felt so much better when I was on the higher dose but not so good with a lower dose.
