anti malarials

I have been told that being treated with anti malarials helps with the extreme fatigue. I wondered if anyone else had heard this or tried it. Thanks

Hi

I have been on Plaquenil for over 12 years and I still have very severe fatigue I spend most of my life in bed but that doesn't mean that it wont work for you or anyone one else good luck x

Hi there, you probably will be started on 'Plaquenil' this works for many.. it did not for me, I am one of the few severely allergic to it - due to another disease I have probably, (psoriatic arthropathy), however my teenage daughter is doing better on this, than she was without it, it has made a real difference to her. Hydroxychloroquine (trade names Plaquenil and Quinoric in the UK) are now widely prescribed for a variety of autoimmune conditions including APS. Please see here for more info: hughes-syndrome.org/about-h...

On a personal level I have been taking them for over nine years now and they have made a massive difference to my fatigue and arthralgia. They can take about two to three months to work and did upset my stomach a lot in the early days, but all seems fine now :)

Just a note with regard to the Hydroxychloroquine I was advised by Prof Hughes to only take the plaqunil make, as the generic make can cause flares in lupus and or stomach problems simply because of the different way it is made. Just thought might be useful to some of you here too xxx

I take the generic form (hydroxychloriquine) and it made a very big difference for me, as in an improvement. I really hope it does the same for you!!
