Hi I was diagnosed 5 years with he c which I had 12 weeks treatment including weekly injection which made me really ill worst I’d felt ever those 12 weeks. After completed meds I had 3 in different occasions blood tests and the hep had cleared.then in 2016 had another which again no sign of hep c. So yesterday received a call saying I had hep c after I had a prick test few weeks ago. Am totally devastated right now. M waiting on seeing a hepatitis nurse now. So again this test that was done was a little prick in my finger. Am so scared and thinking the worst that this will kill me of xxx

Hi Cazza, I'm wondering if they just did an antibody test and yes it will say hep c antibodies positive, even if you cleared it that test will always stay positive, as we all have antibodies. Normally they will need to test viral load to see if there is any virus, did they know you had hep c before? Then they should know that any blood test will come up positive, but positive for antibodies, not the virus! This is as far as I know, do t get to worried, I have the feeling they will need to know that you had it before and then the blood test will make sense to them ? All the best to you
