I just stopped all cardizem a month ago, Dr. agreed . I got 115 beats per. minuts yesterday at 4:00pm, got scared as I am alone, and did NOT want to to hospital ER.. Kardi mobile said it was Tachycardia. I was to frightened to go through the night like that and I took A Cardizem 180 24 HR ER. took one more today. Dr.Gave me METOPROLOL SUSS ER 25 MG TABLET.. The directions say take 1/2 tablet daily by mouth for 90 days.. It sounds odd, but I have no knowledge of these meds. I was afraid this new me wouldn't stop the fast beats, so I took the one 180 cardizem yesterday at 4;15 pm , and took one more today at the same time... Don't want cardizem but don't have any idea what this new metoprolol is for or how it works etc... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don't want the Cardizem again, so I will just stop that, only took it out of desperation and maybe tomorrow at after 4:00pm I will go it with nothing, hoping the tachy will be gone. Glad it wasn't A-FIB again and the kardia has been telling me since last night 7:15 that I was back in NSR... I am getting all anxious about tomorrow eve. Thanks for listening...

What is the difference in Cartizem verses Metopropol for tachy and afib?
I would never be anxious about having a heart rate of 115bpm. A lotof people can have rates that go over 200bpm, or more rarely 300bpm. A friend passes out when her heart rate goes really high. Up to about 130bpm I'd just sit it out at home. If I had any chest pains as well, no matter what my heart rate was, or felt nauseous then I'd dial the NHS 111 no.
Paramedics are usually sent and they will check you over and by those results see if it warrants going to hospital.
Sadly once we feel our heart beating fast, we can sometimes become really anxious and that anxiety is like food promoting a high heart rate.
If you get an attack again, sit calmly, shut your eyes and do some deep breathing. Breath deep into your stomach, not your chest and feel it expand with every in breath. Then watch t.v. or read a book, do anything that takes your mind off of what your heart is doing.
Artificial additives in food were a sure trigger for some of my attacks. Overeating is another well known cause as is wearing tight clothing around your body. If you need to lose any weight, then doing so will make you feel so much more alive and hopefully reduce attacks..
I take Metoprolol and find it a very effective pill. Have had AF for 18 years, but now don't get the high rates that I used to.

Thank you for responding. Usually when in a-fib I do pass out at 140 to 185 beats a min.. That is correct.. So this tachy beat up to 120 , but in those ranges it's best to sit it out?
Firs time I ever did that but I was determined NOT to go to the ER and get converted...
and the metoprolol 25 mg I"m to take 1/2 tablet for 90 days?? Is this pill used for High blood pressure< I have very low bp always like 108/ 63 pulse 65 ect... I wont take that Cardizem again as it is a blood pressure med and my ankles swell up.. Never had that, Dr. said discontinue and I will send you another med., which is metoprolol 25 suss. What kind of medicine is that??? Thank you for your time.. 🌷
Be aware I'm not medically trained and can only comment on symptoms and tablets that I've had myself and what I say is only my opinion.Metoprolol is a beta blocker which can slow the heart rate. I take this drug but just 12.5 mg morning and evening. Tablets made here in the UK are only of a 50mg strength and are Metoprolol Tartrate. I believe the US has different strengths and types. I know nothing at all about cardizem.
Wishing you well.
