Multivitamins & Minerals and AFlutter/AFib

Apologies is this subject has been covered before but what c are peoples' experiences of taking multivitamins and minerals while they have the condition of AFlutter or AFib? I take a daily multivitamin+minerals and have AFlutter for which I take 1.25mg Bisoprolol. If I have enough data to suggest I shouldn't be taking the vitamin then I'll stop or perhaps use an alternative . Best wishes.

Hi Ian,I take a multivitamin, high dose vitamin D, and cod liver oil daily. Occassionally I'll add some iron tablets 325mg for a few days if I'm feeling tired after a period of heavy training. In my experience of taking these over the years I've never noticed any effect on occurrence of afib from these vitamins. I have read something interesting recently about keeping Electrolytes topped up as any drop in these can encourage heart rythm disturbances. If you give a quick Google about electrolytes and afib theres lots of info on it.

You can buy a quality electrolyte mix effervessant tablet in any sports shop or health shop for relativly cheap. It's something I use during a long cycle or run because I know I'll lose alot through sweat on the weekend but never think of in daily life but Ill be doing some more research and might add this into my daily routine in future I think 👍 as always check with your doctor before adding anything into the mix. Take care

Hi there, thank you for your reply. I did read up on electrolytes and it makes sense to keep these topped up as they're vital for the electrical circuit / conduction in the heart to work. I was planning on sourcing some myself. Good to hear this backed up by yourself. When he's eventually available, I'll be speaking to my GP about vitamins and electrolytes. Many thanks, take care.

I have permanent afib, and I take a general multivitamin+mineral because I'm in my 50s and in north Scotland so don't get much sunlight. I've tried a few other things, e.g. magnesium, but have not found anything to affect my afib.
