What's going on with me?

After dealing with episodes of racing heart for awhile now... now it seems that I am dealing with low heart rate like in the 50s when I'm resting this is just making me more and more anxious and scared all the time I don't know where to turn for answers. Even when I'm in the midst of anxiety now my resting heart rate is in the 50s.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a heart rate in the 50's, for some people that's normal. Of course if it's making you feel dizzy or ill, then that's a different matter. My normal heart rate is around 62 but will often go down into the late fifties. Take care that you're not over breathing, which may cause your heart to do this.

Why don't you have a talk with your doctor and ask if he or she could arrange for you to wear a heart monitor for a few days.

Hi.. thank you for your reply I actually have already been through the whole heart monitor work up Echo and nuclear stress test. All because the cardiologist said my EKG looked like what could have been a. heart attack in the pastyear or 2... I have hypothyroidism and I have mitral valve prolapse that's the only thing definitive. I have bouts of tachycardia but most of the time my heart rate runs around 70 ish so for it to be in the mid-50s or 56 is low for me and I do have eptopics even at this low HR.

Does your low heart rate make you feel unwell? I too have hypothyroidism, but mine was caused by taking the drug Amiodarone to slow my heart rate. Bah!!! I also have a slightly leaky mitral valve, which I believe is common as we grow older. I'm told it doesn't require attention, will yours?

Were the results of your tests all normal?

It could be your anxiety that's causing your low heart rate, do you know if your BP goes down at the same time? My youngest daughter has anxiety attacks, she gets them if she has to do anything she doesn't want to, even if she has to listen to someone she finds boring! Her BP dives and she starts feeling sick and then passes out, not sure what her pulse does, but she's aware of her heart thudding when it happens.

Is it when you're sat in the evenings that your heart rate drops?

I just noticed the lower heart rate yesterday and I was very cold at the same time I went to bed so I could get warm when I did my heart rate increased just slightly from mid-fifties to 60. I suspect mine has to do with menopause and hypothyroidism. All my tests came back good except for the mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation.

The monitor I wore only showed one episode of tachycardia and on episode of ectopic beats. Problem with that was that I had to wear that monitor for 30 days and it was Wi-Fi connected so where I live my Wi-Fi is basically nonexistent so I don't trust those results at all.

Anxiety is a terrible thing one of the worst things imaginable.

I am sorry for anyone that has to deal with that on a daily basis.

Thank you so much for your reply and your questions. Be well!!!
