I had a pacemaker fitted at 71 yrs of age 3 days ago after a successful ablation for SVT (AVNRT) 6 months ago, but I was still bradycardic with HR as low as 29 bpm at night & 39/55 bpm during the day with spikes of 157 bpm during light exercise!
I cannot believe the difference in how I feel right now, Shortage of breath has almost gone & don't feel as exhausted as I used to,sleep patterns have also improved so I'm hoping for continued improvement in the coming weeks & months when my PM will probably be fine tuned.
I feel better than I have for the past three years. My advice is go for it if you feel rotten all the time as I did ! Procedure took less than an hour, although sore for a few days Paracetamol worked well. Good luck & best wishes!

Good news. Onwards and upwards, or something like that.
I am 72 years and have Svt, I,ve had 8 attacks in 2 and half years and refused the ablation for the moment. I was on bisoprolol 1.25 but the electrophysiologist stopped it because it lowered my heart rate and blood pressure too low, I have low blood pressure anyway. I also sleep badly, awake after 4 hours for up to an hour,I read. My last Svt attack was3 months ago at 188 beats, adenisone does not bring mine down usually amoriadone, not sure how it’s spelt. Lately I,ve been getting pressure in my chest but my heart isn,t above 64, I,m thinking it may be angina! 44 years of ectopics and mild attacks of racing heart,I didn,t know what they were until the big one in 2017. It does compromise quality of life.
Sounds so like my experience pre ablation & the pacemaker really has transformed the way I now feel & what I can do in just a couple of weeks. Check my latest update, the ablation stopped my svt completely
I am thinking about it because I feel so tired all the time, they did warn me I may have a pacemaker. I,m moving house at the moment so will change my doctor from the useless one I have, I don,t bother him unless I have to. I was worried the ablation would not work and didn,t want to be a burden to my family who all work. I,m going to keep up with your posts to see how you get on. Thanks for the reply.
