I have been told I need an ablation for SVT. Does anyone know how long I will have to wait for the procedure? I live in Wolverhampton

Waiting lists for ablation
I am waiting for Ablation at Bristol, they tell me it is a 6 month waiting list
Once your local cardiologist ACTUALLY asks you to be put on the list at a hospital (maybe non-local) that has their own Catheter Laboratory ("Cath Lab") for performing ablations, it should be a matter of a few months. I am in South West England and know Bristol and Southampton have Cath Labs . . . . . . I suspect Birmingham must have one as well.
I had my ablation for SVT at Southampton on 1st May . . . . . brilliant; am told they have a target date of 4 months to see patients from when patients have been referred to them by their cardiologist.
The problems I experienced in relation to delays were that my local hospital/cardiologist/congenital heart defect nurse took an absolute AGE to make sure the paperwork was completed and/or letter writing to make the decisions of who was doing what and at what hospital . . . . . . I waited nearly two years, but there you are.
In summary; not long once on the list.
If you think it is dragging on, chase your cardiologist.
Otherwise, fantastic results having been seen at Southampton.
Hope that helps. Ed.
