Risk versus quality of life- Amitriptyline usage

Hi

I have long qt 480ms only diagnosed recently. Not sure which type yet but it's hereditary as my mum has it.

Im 52 , looking back at and old ECG it was maybe around 465 when I was 40 but I wasn't told I had Long QT.

Anyhow I also have migraine sensory aura which makes me quite ill and is worse with stress. I came off amitriptyline which I was taking for migraine aura and anxiety at the advice of the cardio , tried nadalol but stopped as it whacked me out my heart rate was about 35 and it made my RLS worse.

I've had a real bad flare up of the migraine aura and anxiety and depression with sleepless nights for 6 weeks or so.

There is no other drug that works like amitriptyline apparently.

Cardio says it's risk vs quality of life and reckons if I'm really in a hole and not functioning to go back on it provided the QT doesn't get above 500 and to have regular ECG monitoring.

I'm not sure how you quantify the risk. I'm not aware I had any episodes whilst on ami. Had a monitor fitted for a while 3 yrs ago or so to record any events I thought I was having but I was all OK so just anxiety I guess.

Thanks

Have a look at the the Atrial Fibrillation forum as there are posts like this one: healthunlocked.com/afassoci...

But from memory amitriptyline is not mentioned much by people who have AF.
