Stopping Apixiban
I had a successful cryoablation 9 months ago and will be on Apixaban for life as there is no evidence, as yet, that successful ablation lowers stroke risk. Your EP should have views on this in your case as it will depend on your CHAD-VASC score.

As an anticoagulant, Apixaban does not control the heart rate, but helps to reduce the risk of AF related stroke. We would always recommend discussing any changes of medication with you GP or consultant.
I had a successful ablation but my EP says I am best to stay anticoagulated for life even without any AF symptoms. And thats even with a chads score of zero.
I would ask your specialist.
You need to do your own research and come to your own conclusions. Asking specialists does not necessarily give the right answer. Many believe and have stated that you should stay on Anticoagulation for life because as stated above there is no evidence / studies to say risks are reduced to that for a normal person. Others believe you can stop after X months but note the actual number can vary very considerably. Also for those with AF chadsvac for items do not return to zero of controlled (eg once you have had high BP you keep 1 for high BP even if it is now controlled).
You must not ignore the fact that most people don't know what is happening in their sleep.
Also with AF people who have symptomatic events can also have asymptomatic events. Some can also be asymptomatic or very largely asymptomatic (as I was but now know with hindsight).
