I was diagnosed with SVT last February. I was put on anxiety meds and a beta blocker, also Klonopin as I developed panic disorder after learning about my condition. I'm just curious as to if anyone has ever used Thrive products with this condition? I used to take Garcinia Cambogia but was told not to by one of the doctors I was seen by...

Hi MortensonHay
Yes diagnosis of any of the arrythmias is horrible and really scary, but it can be treated and often successfully, either chemically with drugs or a cardioversion, or an ablation can make a huge difference.
With regard to your "Thrive" products, 2 things if I may.
1) A lot of supplements and/or natural therapies can counteract the very specialised drugs that we take for our arrythmias. Always please check with your medical professional before taking anything whatsoever. An example is that my pharmacist in the UK pointed out to me that there was literally not a single "cold remedy" on her shelves that I could safely take with my mix of drugs. It was paracetomol or nothing.
2) You are to some extent trapped in a vicious circle, we know that anxiety often triggers arrythmias, or makes them worse, and yet the arrythmia itself makes you feel anxious and makes life difficult to cope with.
May I suggest that "knowledge is power" I have no magic wand whcih will make you feel better, but the more you know about SVT and the more you learn about treatments, fellow sufferers, and the condition itself, the better you will feel. Do try first with the Arrythmia Alliance website.
Here, for example, is their help on SVT
heartrhythmcharity.org.uk/w...
And there are many other websites in the UK and US with great information.
And if you can learn to believe one thing it will help you immensely I promise and that is a quote from the bottom of that AA page
"The majority of SVTs are not life threatening" (and I will add it just feels that way at the time)
In time you will learn to control your SVT and not let it control you, I promise you that day will come sooner than you think, and then that anxiety will subside.
Be well
Ian
Hi Ian,
I really like your comment in parentheses on 'The majority of SVTs are not life threatening' ; it certainly does feel that way when you can't see and your heart is thumping like fury and you are convinced that this one is 'it'. But I too have learned to remember this like a mantra and does help to calm me.
It is important to remember as you point out, that 'natural' or 'alternative' therapies are not necessarily without danger. For example, I was warned not to take passionflower (passiflora) for insomnia as this has a particularly bad effect on heart rhythm and this seems to be an ingredient in most alternative insomnia remedies.
Certainly, the more we know the safer we are.
Hi Maria,
I'm sorry to hear that your condition has caused you to develop panic disorder.
Just one comment.....go easy on the klonopin - benzodiazepines are addictive as I'm sure you already know. Ironically, they can produce symptoms of panic and anxiety if you become dependent upon them so careful eh!
Dealing with your anxiety naturally by talking it through with a counsellor may help you more than the meds. I've been in the same boat and if you work on the premise that meds can tranquilise, calm and temporarily salve anxiety...but will never solve it....you may see where I'm coming from.
Anxiety responds well to talking treatments and panic due to cardiac symptoms is something to discuss rather than medicate IMO.
It's hard though...I empathise.

Hi, I have SVT, diagnosed in 1993, so lived with it a long time. It took about 6 months to get the meds right, to control it. I am taking Rythmodan Retard, it is the only drug which controls my heart arrythmia. Mine is usually triggered by exercise, overdoing things physically. And was diagnosed as being exercise induced. Also suffered with anxiety and panic attacks but now much better with these after talking therapies. Knowledge is power! I must say beta blockers didn't work for me and actually did give me terrible feelings of anxiety.
Keep on at your doctors for the right prescription for you. I am in Newcastle. I think you can request hospitals outside of your own area.
Best wishes. Dee xxx
