Can any 1 help plz i have svt and just been given predisolone its a 5day course of 30mg a day but im affraid to take them in case it brings on an attack of svt. Has any 1 had this happen i would b very greatful for any advise

Hello, I too have svt and am reducing from 30mg prednisolone -for GCA- and am now at 17.5mg. I did have an increased number of svt episodes on the higher dose but was advised to raise my bisoprolol from 1.25 to 2.5 mg per day and this seems to have regulated it. I've just had a seven day monitor and am to see cardiologist and electrophysiologist about the results of this so will ask about the correlation between svt and prednisolone then. What was prednisolone prescribed for? If it is for PMR or GCA I would suggest you do as I did and ask about increasing your beta blockers at least while on the higher dose of prednisolone. are you on any arrhythmia drugs? I have svt, Wolfe Parkinson White syndrome/Afib and am on flecanide and dilitazem as well as pred and a number of other drugs. It hasn't made any difference to my SVT so far and I have been taking it for about 18 months in various dosages. Have a chat to your GP or pharmacist if you are concerned as they will give you the best advice
