Well it's 3 days until my total hysterectomy op. Any suggestions as what is essential to pack in my bag??? Any advice would be great from ladies who have been there. Also can I wear short pjs or do I need to buy a nightie?

Hi good luck and try this link above which gives a lot of advice and there is also a forum providing tips on what real people have found useful. I have certainly picked up a few tips from all of this for my operation on 8th June.

Hope all goes well.

Hello icedjem

Not long now, the waiting is the hard part πŸ˜•

Definitely nighties, you'll have catheter/drain/etc and probably horrible disposable knickers on after theatre 😜 lol

It can get quite warm, so I took a lightweight cardigan in rather than dressing gown. Plus lots of spare undies.

Other bits and pieces included my phone and earplugs so I could listen to music/audio book/podcasts. And a good book.

Good luck!

Thanks Anna61. I'm off to buy some nighties today and 'big pants' πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

😊 😊😊

I've just read the list from the link above which is really useful too 😊

Be prepared to be REALLY tired afterwards, for quite a few months. I was quite unprepared for this πŸ˜•

Pain wasn't bad actually. Going to the loo a bit scary, eat plenty of prunes!! Sorry TMI πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Comfy clothes/loose pyjamas/nightdresses. Some nice toiletries to make you feel nice. Slippers/flip-flops. Clean pants, pads, iPad, phone, books, spectacles if you need them. Nuffield health has a useful page on hospital bags. I'll try to find it later. Good luck, hope it all goes well. X

Also buy peppermint water or apercap for when you g t home as you probably will be constipated and bloated with gas.
