Questions relating to post op and recovery time symptoms.

Hello I am 52 and had my Full oophorectomy and abdominal hysterectomy following unstoppable heavy period and enormous fibroids. I consider myself very lucky to have had a non eventful and successful operation and recovery and returned to work on a reduced timetable in February, the reason for this post is to address some symptoms that I have not been able to find answers to. Could I ask respectful if there are any of you who have experienced and still have 6 months on;

-numbness in the area of the cut, is this likely to improve?

-bloating, I have lost weight yet my stomach is distended

-irregular bowel movements (sometimes up to a week ) with sharp pains and a loss of the feeling to want to go?

-when is it safe to start lifting furniture/heavy shopping bags etc?

I would really appreciate any input and hope I may be able to help others with questions they may have I return.

Thank you.

Hi, I had hysterectomy 3 years ago and still have numbness and sensitivity near the area of the abdominal cut. The whole area was puffy and sensitive for several months afterwards. I suppose it's the nerves still playing up. i also get a lot of muscular pain up one side in my buttock/ pelvis/ back which my consultant said was due to scar tissue pulling.

All your pelvic organs have been jiggled around and of course the support structure different due to surgery so that and internal scarring and maybe adhesions is probably the reason you have some bowel issues.

Did they mention if you had any endometriosis? That could also be a cause of bloating and pain.

Good luck Hun, hope it all reduces over time for you but it's a waiting game to let things subside.
